A White Chocolate Hot Cookie Dough Dessert
My warm and gooey hot cookie dough recipe that you don’t need a skillet to make – I use a cake tin! This recipe is both tasty and moreish, making it perfect for all the cookie monsters like me out there.
Cookie dough is by far one of the easiest desserts I like to make, especially because it’s a big circle of gooey goodness. It takes me only 25 minutes to make, and you can enjoy it freshly baked whilst it’s nice and warm.
I have to admit, I devoured the whole thing by myself! I served it with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream, and I just kept going spoon after spoon. Trust me, the taste of this dessert is irresistibly good.
What’s even better is how easy it is to make; all you’re doing is making a cookie batter and baking it in a cake tin. You don’t have to use white chocolate like I did, you can use dark, milk or whatever flavour you like.
My Homemade Pizza Hut Version
I tried Pizza Hut’s cookie dough and decided to make it myself… and here I am with the recipe! After many trials and errors, I finally perfected a cookie dough that’s ultra gooey, soft and rich too.
It’s basically a deep-dish cookie filled with chocolate that’s baked to perfection. I love the gooey centre, the slightly crispy edges and of course the compulsory side of ice cream (kidding not kidding).
I deviated from Pizza Hut’s original by using white chocolate chunks instead of milk chocolate chips. It’s so much better! Using chunks broken from a chocolate bar creates pools of chocolate when the cookie dough has baked.
Recipe Ingredients
You only need the 7 ingredients I’ve listed below (most of which you’ll probably have at home already):
- Butter: You can use either salted or unsalted butter. I occasionally like to use Stork (a brand of margarine).
- Sugar: This recipe uses half caster sugar and half light brown sugar for a slightly chewy cookie around the edges. However, you can use all caster sugar or all light brown sugar to keep it simple.
- Egg: I used one small egg.
- Vanilla: For extra flavour, though I never skip this out, using vanilla extract is an optional addition.
- Plain Flour: Helps to bind the wet and dry ingredients together.
- Baking Powder: For a gentle rise.
- Chocolate: I used white chocolate but feel free to use any type of chocolate you like.
How To Make Hot Cookie Dough
Below is a step-by-step guide on how I make this easy, warm and gooey hot cookie dough. You can get full recipe instructions on the recipe card at the bottom with a video too.
I start by creaming the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then I add an egg and vanilla extract before mixing everything together.
Flour, baking powder and chopped chunks of white chocolate is added to the mixing bowl and everything is mixed together until a cookie dough has formed.
I pour the cookie dough into a greased 7″ baking tin and sprinkle the remaining white chocolate chunk pieces on top.
It’s then baked in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes for a gooey hot cookie dough or 15 to 20 minutes for more of a baked cookie dough. Don’t forget to serve with ice cream or whipped cream!
Flavour Variations
This basic cookie dough recipe can be made with additional flavours. You can easily make a double chocolate version by adding cocoa powder with white and milk chocolate chunks. Caramel is also a popular cookie flavour, instead of adding vanilla you can add caramel essence instead.

Notes
Can I Use A Skillet?
Yes! The great thing about this recipe is that you don’t need a skillet to make this hot cookie dough, but you can use one if you want too. However, I baked this dessert using a regular 7″ circular baking tin. If you do want to use a skillet, make sure the one you get is oven-proof! Stainless steel skillets or cast-iron skillets are suitable for baking in the oven. Avoid using any with a wooden or plastic handle, it’s best to read the description or label making sure if it’s oven-safe before buying or using one. You can also make lots of individual portions perfect for people to have their own each, use cute mini pie dishes or ramekins both are small and portioned sized.Nutrition
