Here's how to make Chinese takeaway style king prawn fried rice, with this easy and quick recipe. It's a must-try fakeaway to make at home!

Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 250 g Cooked Jasmine Rice
  • 10-12 King Prawns
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 Spring Onions
  • 1 Egg
  • 50 g Peas (Handful)
  • 1 Carrot Cut into small cubes
  • To Taste Salt
  • ½ tsp White Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing Cooking Wine

Fried Rice Stir Fry Sauce

Instructions
 

  • Heat a wok over a medium to high heat then add oil. Add the garlic and spring onions and stir for one minute.
    1 tbsp Vegetable Oil, 2 Garlic Cloves, 2 Spring Onions
  • Add prawns to the wok and continue to stir for two minutes. Then add peas, carrots, salt, white pepper, Shaoxing cooking wine and continue to stir.
    10-12 King Prawns, 50 g Peas, 1 Carrot, To Taste Salt, ½ tsp White Pepper, 1 tbsp Shaoxing Cooking Wine
  • Add one whisked egg. Leave the egg for a few seconds to cook before scrambling it into pieces.

  • Add the rice, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil and stir together until the rice now looks brown.
    Turn the heat off and sprinkle extra chopped spring onions if you wish. Plate the rice and enjoy!
    250 g Cooked Jasmine Rice, 2 tbsp Oyster Sauce, 2 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce, 1 tsp Sesame Oil

How Spicy Is This Prawn Fried Rice?

For me, this prawn fried rice recipe is not that spicy but rather mild, however this is up to personal taste. To add more heat to this recipe you can add chopped chillies in step 1 and chilli powder in step 2.
