Add oil to a frying pan or griddle pan and preheat on a medium to high heat.
1 tbsp Oil
Separate the mince into 4 equal sized sections and use your hands to roll each section into a ball. Then, gently flatten the balls into a mince patty shape.
500 g Mince Beef
Sprinkle salt and black pepper on both sides of the mince patty.
½ tsp Salt, ½ tsp Ground Black Pepper
Place the mince patty onto the frying pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on one side or until browned.
500 g Mince Beef
Then turn the burger over, place a slice of cheese on top and leave to cook for a further 2 to 3 minutes or until personal preference.
4 Burger Cheese Slices, 500 g Mince Beef
Remove from the heat and set aside to rest for 1 to 2 minutes. In this time, you can prep your toppings or make these fried onions for burgers.
500 g Mince Beef
To assemble, place one to two pieces of lettuce at the bottom of the burger buns, followed by a slice of tomato, the burger patty, sliced gherkins, fried onions, sauces of your choice and top with burger buns.Feel free to rearrange this order!
If the burger mince is browning too quickly, this means that the temperature is too high. Reduce the heat before continuing to cook the remaining beef burgers.
Recipe Variations And Additions
There are many flavour additions and variations you can make to transform this burger recipe into a gourmet treat. You can swap standard American-style burger cheese to Monterey Jack, cheddar or pepper jack cheese. Also, if you want to season the beef mince, you can add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, chilli flakes and even fresh herbs like basil or parsley. I like to add a dash of garlic powder and cumin.Though I made single cheeseburgers in my pictures, you can make double cheeseburgers too!
