Ingredients

  • 200 g Icing Sugar
  • 200 g Cream Cheese
  • 100 g Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Add butter to a large mixing bowl, use an electric whisk to whisk the butter until it looks light, and the texture is fluffy. This takes me 2 to 3 minutes.
    100 g Butter
  • Pour the icing sugar into the mixing bowl and whisk again until evenly distributed. This step usually takes me an additional 1 to 2 minutes on a high setting. (See Notes).
    200 g Icing Sugar
  • Open the cream cheese and remove any water in the container if any.
  • Add the cream cheese and vanilla extract to the mixing bowl and whisk together until evenly combined and any bumps have smoothed out.
200 g Cream Cheese, 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Notes

When mixing the butter and icing sugar together, it can take some time as the mixture may resemble breadcrumbs and not mould together easily. To speed up this step, once the mixture looks like breadcrumbs, you can mould it together with your hands and then whisk to smooth it out.
Feel free to double this recipe to make larger quantities, keeping in mind that the ratio for making this cream cheese frosting is half the amount of sugar and butter to cream cheese.
If you want to enhance the flavour with additions like strawberry jam or cocoa powder, include them after whisking the butter and before adding the cream cheese.
