Homemade Garlic Bread Baguette Recipe
This garlic bread baguette is one of my all time favourites! It’s crusty on the outside, soft in the middle and the flavour is just too good to resist! Here’s how I make it…

If you have 15 minutes, then you have all the time you need to make my homemade garlic bread baguette – which is truly the ultimate side dish for any meal! It’s so quick, easy and here’s a little secret: you don’t even need to make the baguette from scratch – I won’t tell if you won’t.
All you need is 3 main ingredients to make the garlic and parsley butter, and a baguette at hand to stuff it all into. Honestly, this recipe is so easy yet the taste is utterly amazing!! It’s so good that I could eat two… and I’m not joking!
If you love garlic bread, then you’re definitely going to love this recipe too. It’s a great way to use up leftover baguettes or to make this delicious classic without popping off to the shops.

Recipe Ingredients
Here I’ve listed the few ingredients needed to make this recipe and a few alternatives for some of the ingredients listed:
- French Baguette: Any fresh crusty baguette from your local supermarket or bakery is perfect. Though, you can also use ‘bake at home baguettes’, I usually part bake the baguettes (according to packet instructions) for half of the time, leave the baguettes to chill then continue with my recipe.
- Unsalted Butter (Or Stork): Use unsalted or salted butter, this is down to personal preference. If you use salted butter, then you might want to skip adding additional salt. Stork butter is a great vegan alternative!
- Garlic Cloves: Freshly minced garlic cloves are best to use for a strong flavour. However, you can use garlic paste or garlic granules as alternatives.
- Parsley: Freshly diced parsley is great for optimal flavour, but you can use dried parsley as a substitute.
- Salt (Optional): I like to add a pinch of salt to give the garlic butter an extra kick of flavour, though this addition is optional.
How To Make Garlic Bread Baguette
Below is a step-by-step guide on how I make this delicious homemade garlic bread baguette. Full recipe instructions are on the recipe card below:
Step One:

Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C Fan, gas mark 6).
Place butter, salt (optional), minced garlic and finely chopped parsley into a mixing bowl and mix together until evenly combined.
Step Two:

Slice the baguette into approximately 1cm slices, being careful not to cut all the way through (3/4 down is best). A bread knife works well for this step.
Step Three:

Generously spread the garlic butter in between each slice and spread any remaining garlic butter on top of the baguette.
Wrap the baguette in foil, place it onto a baking tray and bake in the oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown, slightly crispy and the garlic butter has thoroughly melted.
What To Serve With Garlic Bread Baguette
My go to serving has got to be pizza, lasagne and of course a delicious bowl of red pesto pasta. But actually, on most occasions I simply eat it by itself because it’s that good!
If you want to turn this garlic bread baguette into a filling meal, then you can serve it with these tasty garlic butter prawns or this creamy chicken and sweetcorn soup.

How To Store & Reheat
If you have any leftover garlic bread (in which I will be shocked!!), you can store it at room temperature for 1 to 2 days. Make sure it’s kept in an airtight container. You can reheat in the oven or in a short burst via the microwave.
My Top Tips
I used a pestle and mortar to mince fresh garlic cloves, but this results in a few chunks of garlic. If you want a completely smooth consistency, I recommend blending the garlic cloves or buying garlic paste (usually sold in jars) which has a smoother texture.
Use spreadable butter or butter left at room temperature because it makes mixing the ingredients together a lot easier. If the butter you are using is quite hard or thick, you can blend the mixture together in a food processor.
Don’t throw any leftover garlic butter away, you can keep leftovers in the fridge or spread it over the baked baguette and it will melt into it.

Recipe Variations
Cheesy Garlic Bread: Take this recipe to a whole new level by adding cheeses like parmesan or cheddar cheese on top.
Different Types Of Bread: If you don’t have freshly baked baguettes, then that’s no problem! Bake at home or ‘part baked baguettes’ are also great for making garlic bread. You can also use tiger bread or a loaf of sourdough.
Change The Shape: While my go-to way is cutting the bread in the traditional garlic bread style, I occasionally enjoy changing it up. You can slice the baguette in half lengthways or cut the bread into small chunks, letting the garlic butter melt all over it whilst it’s baking in the oven.
